Thanks to the incentives, 42 companies have invested in licensed warehouses, which are described as "grain dams". 90 companies lined up. When a total investment of 2.5 billion is completed, the capacity will increase to 7 million tons.

2.5 billion will be spent on licensed warehouses defined as 'grain dams' built by the private sector under the leadership of the Turkish Grain Board (TMO). To date, 42 companies have invested in licensed warehouses, which is the largest infrastructure investment in the field of agriculture. Eren Günhan Ulusoy, Chairman of the Turkish Flour Industrialists' Federation (TUSAF), said, “Thanks to the incentives, an important infrastructure investment has been brought to the agricultural sector. So far, the licensed warehouse investment capacity of 42 companies has reached 2 million tons. 90 companies have applications. If these investments are realized, the capacity will reach 7 million tons.

Explaining that an investment of 2.5 billion liras will be made for 7 million tons, Ulusoy said, “After these investments are completed, the part that we are looking forward to is the introduction of the product specialized stock market. Once activated, all products will be traded under a single exchange. This is an important innovation. Currently, you can buy and sell electronic product bills in 9 stock exchanges under TOBB. But in order to see in which exchange the wheat is cheap, you have to be a member of each one and look at the screens of each one separately," he said.

Order in Bill of Materials

Ulusoy stated that the law on this issue was enacted, “But it was not implemented. When licensed warehouses are put into service in all regions, the electronic product certificate should also be activated. Thus, it will be possible to buy wheat from Kırıkkale with a mobile phone.” Eren Günhan Ulusoy, who is also the President of Ulusoy Un’s Board of Directors, said that as a company, they also have licensed warehouse investments. Explaining that the 43 thousand-ton investment in Çorum Alaca has been operating for 1 year, Ulusoy said, “The 60 thousand-ton warehouse in Yozgat Sorgun continues at full speed. It will come into effect in June. 24 steel silos of 2,500 tons are being built. It will cost 20 million liras," he said.

Stating that the construction of a licensed warehouse with a capacity of 30 thousand tons continues in Samsun, Ulusoy said, “It will be ready in August. In addition, we will build a 60 thousand-ton warehouse in Tekirdağ. We will increase the capacity of Samsun to 60 thousand tons. In 2019, we will reach a total warehouse capacity of 220 thousand tons.”

New Factory Investment

Ulusoy, who stated that as Ulusoy Un, reached a turnover of 1.8 billion TL with an increase of 56 percent in 2017, “There has been a serious increase in exports. We increased the capacity. The factory investment we made in Samsun will come into operation at the end of the year. Our turnover will increase even more,” he said. Ulusoy also said that they spent 56 million liras for the new flour factory in Samsun.

The Season Started Drought, But We Succeeded

Ulusoy stated that although the weather was dry, the subsequent rains improved the yield and said, “This year, we can achieve a 20 million-ton yield in wheat. Normally, Thrace has a wheat harvest of 2.5 million tons. 3 million this year. Konya region is also good. Only the South East has a problem. But we got over the fear of drought,” he said. Explaining that the unit price of bran reached 850 liras per ton and almost approached the price of flour due to the shortage in feed, Ulusoy said, “The growth of animal husbandry increased the demand for food. In 2003, 10 million tons of feed raw material increased to 22 million tons.
