ACHIEVES 5 PERCENT OF EXPORTS IN THE SECTOR

Since the first day it was founded, it has rapidly increased its production capacity, today it has a daily production capacity of 900 tons. This year, it aims to increase its export share of 5 percent in the sector and aim to export 50 million dollars.


Ulusoy Un, which was established in 1969 in Samsun, the commercial center of the Black Sea, has succeeded in increasing its wheat processing capacity, which was 180 tons per day in the year it was founded, to 900 tons per day with its two factories. The company, which closed the year 2017 with a turnover of 1 billion 800 million TL, realizes 5 percent of the sector's exports in Turkey alone.


Ulusoy Un President of the Board Eren Günhan Ulusoy, who states that they produce in a way that will contribute to export and foreign trade with nearly 400 employment, states that the company has been on the TIM 500 and ISO 500 lists for the last few years.


Underlining that the share of exports in total sales is around 55 percent, Ulusoy states that there are very positive figures for Turkey in exports in the first three months of this year, and adds: "The export amount in January and February was recorded as the highest figure of these months. All-time record exports of $15 billion were achieved.

Ulusoy, evaluating Turkey's 2018 export target; "$170 billion is an important target. If we can maintain the momentum we have achieved in exports, there is no obstacle for our country to achieve the export target of $170 billion," he says. Explaining that Turkey has been the flour export champion of the world for the last 6 years, Ulusoy said, "Turkey with a size of 18 billion TL flour industry carries out 30 percent of the world flour trade of 11.6 million tons. In other words, Turkey sells 1 kg of every 3 kg of flour traded in the world. Kazakhstan, which comes after Turkey, carries out 20 percent of the world flour trade. Our flour export, which was 253 thousand tons in 2002, increased to 3.5 million tons as of the end of 2017. In terms of revenue generated, when compared to the same years, there is an increase from $47 million to $1.1 billion. As a sector, our biggest and deepest market is Iraq, where we realize more than half of our total flour export. Iraq was followed by Syria, Sudan, Angola and Somalia in 2017 figures. As flour manufacturers, who have exported flour to 160 countries to date, we are trying to deepen the existing markets rather than searching for new markets," he says, explaining the importance of the industry in Turkey's exports.

Aims to Export 50 Million Dollars


Stating that they will contribute to Turkey's export targets with an export of 50 million dollars in line with their targets this year, Eren Günhan Ulusoy says that they want to expand the trade in existing markets and also to increase their product range for bakery products, which is becoming a new trend in different parts of the world.


Stating that they aim to increase their volume and market share even more in Africa and Far East regions where they are active, Ulusoy said, "The favorite markets of the Flour Industry sector are the Middle East region and Africa, as in recent years. More than 90 percent of the 3.5 million tons of flour exported in 2017. "This region will be our most important export market for the flour industry in the coming period," he says.


On the other hand, Ulusoy also stated that they aim to increase their market share in the domestic and foreign markets in flour production and trade, which is their main field of activity, and Samsun Food Organized Ind. He underlines that factory investments in his region continue.


In addition, Eren Günhan Ulusoy, who draws attention to the fact that he has different investments outside the production area but also within the agricultural sector, concludes his words as follows: "We are one of the leading organizations in this field with our facilities that will serve the sector in one of the most important breakthroughs in the Turkish agricultural sector such as licensed warehousing. In 2017, we launched our new commercial offices in different regions of the world, where the players in the global market are active in trade."
